Sefer ha-Chezyonot — R' Chaim Vital's mystical diary, in a 17th-c. copy by R' Yitzchak Yikhini
17th c. copy · The National Library of Israel
Sefer ha-Chezyonot — "The Book of Visions" — is R' Chaim Vital's intimate spiritual diary, the most personal text he ever wrote. Across its pages he records his own dreams and visions, his conversations with the Arizal, the testimonies of mekubalim and prophetesses he encountered in Safed and Damascus, accounts of giluy Eliyahu, and reflections on his own neshamah and its mission. This 17th-century manuscript copy is the work of R' Yitzchak ben Avraham Yikhini and preserves the text within decades of Vital's lifetime; the original autograph survives elsewhere.
