משנה תורה — עם הגהה בכתב יד קדשו של הרמב״ם

Mishneh Torah — with the Rambam's autograph correction note

Egypt (Fostat), 1181–1204 · Bodleian Library, University of Oxford

A 12th-century copy of Maimonides' Mishneh Torah, comprising Sefer ha-Mada and Sefer Ahavah, written in Fostat (Old Cairo) during Maimonides' lifetime and reviewed by him personally. The codex bears his own autograph note attesting to the accuracy of the copy — a near-unique survival of Maimonides' handwriting on his magnum opus. The volume opens with dedicatory poems in honor of Maimonides by his contemporaries Joseph ben Simon, Ḥasdai Halevi, Yitzḥak ben Aldanan, and the renowned poet Yehuda Harizi, with a closing poem by Ḥananel ben Karʼatha. Held at the Bodleian Library, University of Oxford (MS Huntington 80; Neubauer 577). A downloadable PDF facsimile is also available.
