Mishneh Torah — seven books in a 14th-c. codex (Avodah, Korbanot, Tahara, Nezikin, Kinyan, Mishpatim, Shoftim)

14th century · The Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary

A 14th-century codex of Maimonides' Mishneh Torah containing seven of its fourteen books: Sefer Avodah (Temple service), Sefer Korbanot (sacrifices), Sefer Tahara (ritual purity), Sefer Nezikin (damages), Sefer Kinyan (acquisition), Sefer Mishpatim (civil law), and Sefer Shoftim (judges). The Mishneh Torah is the Rambam's halakhic magnum opus, completed around 1180; this volume preserves the seven later books of the work in a single substantial codex written less than two hundred years after the Rambam's lifetime — a working compendium of the legal sedarim as they were studied in the 14th century. A downloadable PDF facsimile is also available.
